Maalik Movie Review: People are crazy about Rajkumar Rao’s comedy, but this time his serious style will be seen. This time he is going to be seen in the role of a gangster. Yes, Rajkumar Rao’s film ‘Maalik’ has been released today i.e. on 11th July. But should you watch or skip this film? Let’s find out in this review.
what is the story
The story of this film is of a poor farmer family, where the father does farming to run the household, but the same farmer’s son does not want the life that his father lived… Now he wants to become a master and rule over everyone, even if he has to shed rivers of blood for it. But this path is not going to be easy for him, because in this path he is going to meet many enemies and many deceptions.
The story of this film is of today’s Prayagraj and Allahabad of the 1980s. Where Deepak (Rajkummar Rao) kills some people and becomes a goon of the place. This goon has ruined everyone’s life, Deepak who has now become the boss. His future dream is to become the MLA of the city… A new SP is called to get the owner’s account cleared, who is an encounter specialist. The Allahabad MLA also wants to remove the owner from his way because because of him the MLA’s dominance is being eroded and his business is also not able to grow. Now, amidst all these enemies, will the master be able to fulfill his plans? Or will he be killed by the police like a common street gangster… you will have to watch the film to see this.
how is the movie
The story of the film is nothing special. After watching the fight, you will feel that the director has tried to create something by combining Gangs of Wasseypur and Mirzapur, but due to this, he has not been able to keep some of his original essence in the film. The first half may seem a bit long, but be prepared to hold your head in the second half because the second half is even looser. Yes, the last quarter hour can entertain you.
If a little work was done on the story of the film, this film could have been very good and could have given a new shape to Rajkumar Rao’s career, but the minus point of this film is that not much effort has been done on its story.
how is the acting
Rajkumar Rao has carried the entire weight of the film on his shoulders. His attire, speech and angry eyes have brought life to the character. This performance can be counted as one of his best works. If the story of the film had a better grip then Rajkumar Rao’s work would have improved. Manushi Chhillar leaves a decent impact in romantic scenes, but looks a little weak in emotional scenes. The names sitting on the side lines but making a strong impact are Saurabh Shukla, Anshuman Pushkar and Swanand Kirkire, all three add life to every frame.
final review
If you like serious, crime-thriller films then you can definitely watch ‘Maalik’ once. Rajkummar Rao’s fiery avatar and some memorable action-types largely cover up the film’s shortcomings. Overall, ‘Maalik’ gets 3 out of 5 stars from Filmibeat Hindi.
