Gustaakh Ishq Movie Review Nostalgic Romance Meets Weak Screenplay in Vijay Varma Starrer

Gustaakh Ishq Movie Review

Gustaakh Ishq Movie Review: Gustakh Ishq has been released in theaters today (28 November). The film offers a beautiful combination of romance, poetry, nostalgia and heart-touching emotions. Let us know in this review whether you should watch or skip this film starring Vijay Verma, Fatima Sana Shaikh and veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah.

what is the story

Made in the direction of Vibhu Puri, this film is based on the background of the 90s, the era when handwritten letters, slowly blossoming love and poetry from the heart were a part of people’s lives. In the story, Vijay Verma plays the role of a stubborn and emotional young man, Naseeruddin Shah plays a famous poet whose past is full of mysteries, and Fatima Sana Shaikh plays the role of his daughter who is trapped between her heart and circumstances.

The story is set in the 90s. Nawabuddin (Vijay Verma), who lives in Delhi, wants to save his late father’s last trace – a defunct printing press. He finds a way to save his printing press by reprinting the old poems of Aziz (Naseeruddin Shah), a famous poet of his father’s time.

Impressed by Aziz’s poetry, Nawabuddin reaches his daughter Mannat (Fatima Sana Shaikh) in Punjab. In the first meeting, Mannat flatly refuses Nawabuddin and tells him that Aziz has now stopped writing.

But Nawabuddin does not accept defeat. Eventually he reaches Aziz’s shop and, hiding his real motive, expresses his desire to learn poetry from him. Meanwhile, Nawabuddin slowly starts feeling something for Mannat. The struggle of the film comes to light when Aziz comes to know the truth.

how is the movie

The story of the film is simple, but the atmosphere of the 90s, colors, music and poetry give a different beauty to the film. Poetry and dialogues are the biggest strengths of the film. However, the first half is just okay and doesn’t seem that impactful. The second half is also slow, due to which the emotional impact is reduced. The music is good, but not memorable. The climax is emotional, but does not make the entire journey memorable.

how is the acting

The biggest strength of the film is its starcast. Vijay Verma looks excellent in the role of Nawabuddin. His honesty and emotionality make an impact on the screen. Fatima Sana Sheikh brings innocence to the role of Mannat. Her chemistry with Vijay Verma is fantastic. Like every time, Naseeruddin Shah takes the story up with his powerful presence. A talented actor like Sharib Hashmi was not utilized properly.

final review

Gustakh Ishq is a simple and sweet romantic film with excellent acting, beautiful poetry and a touch of nostalgia. But due to weak screenplay and slow pace, it does not become as impressive as it could have been. A good effort has been made to make the film but it touches the heart only at an average level, but does not go deep. This film gets 3 stars from Filmibeat Hindi.
